Our story
In 1935, Mrs. Vivian Doe Courville founded the Vivian Courville Nursing Home in South Stukely, Quebec. Around 1955, she received her first daily allowance of 25 cents per day from the MSSS at the time for all care and services provided to the resident. In 1965, George Courville, Vivian's son, and his wife Evelyn, continued the tradition of "We Care" and opened "l'Hôpital de Waterloo". In 1975, to carry out and share their vocation for elderly people who were in loss of their autonomy, the couple built Le Courville Nursing Home de Waterloo. Today, known as Santé Courville de Waterloo, the center is under the presidency of Mr. Kenneth Courville, the third generation of the family business.
In 1989, in partnership with Mr. Daniel Rhodes, owner of Havre du Crépuscule, the Courville family built the Bel Âge de Fabre, a new CHSLD to relocate residents of Le Havre. Christine Durocher joined the Courville family and became the general manager a few years later. In 1993, Mr. and Mrs. Courville received the Governor's Medal of Merit from Mr. Jean Joly, Member of Parliament for Fabre, in recognition of their contribution and dedication to seniors.
Since then, the fourth generation has joined the team. Karolyne and Wylliam Courville have held several positions in auxiliary services, recreation, administration and as nurses. “We Care” is much more than a slogan. It is a tradition and a philosophy that places the resident at the center of all our concerns. The family is proud that their establishment was the first to receive accreditation, by Accreditation Canada, in 1970.
